Whirlpool 4396710 Refrigerator Water Filter Review
Don’t Buy Whirlpool 4396710 Refrigerator Water Filter Until You Read This.
If you happen to be like many people today you may have some concerns about drinking water straight from your tap or just plain don’t enjoy the taste. Either way one alternative many have turned to is purchasing bottled water at grocery stores. This can be quite an expensive route to take especially if you have a large family and even if you buy it in bulk at a Sam’s Club or similar place. Then the inevitable concern of what all that plastic does to our environment comes into play.

Fortunately, these are not our only two options for finding good, clean and great tasting water which everyone should be sure to get enough of. There are many varying opinions about how much water we need, but most sources say 8 8 ounce glasses per day. Obviously if you are an athlete or are outdoors in the sun a lot, you may need more to stay fully hydrated. Dehydration is quite serious so to be perfectly safe, ask your physician just how much you should drink per day to be healthy and hydrated.
Whirlpool has come up with products that fit perfectly into your side-by-side refrigerator that give you purified and cold water with just a simple push of a button. One that is a particularly good is the Whirlpool 4396710 PUR side-by-side refrigerator, push button cyst reducing water filter, 1-pack. This filter is quite versatile and can be used in a large number of side-by-side refrigerators and even comes with very handy push button access.
Let’s take a look at technical details of Whirlpool 4396710 PUR Side-by-Side Refrigerator Water Filter:
- NSF-certified refrigerator water filter
- Retains beneficial fluoride in water
- Helps reduce chlorine’s taste and odor
- Reduces cysts, asbestos, particulates, lead, and mercury
- Replace every 6 months
Not only does a PUR filtration system in your refrigerator give you pleasant tasting cold water and plenty of ice, it also eliminates many things that regular tap water may contain. This is not an all-inclusive list but will just pick the items that many people will hopefully recognize. These filters remove asbestos, chlorine, cysts and spores as well as lead and mercury. While removing these and other contaminants from your water, it does not remove fluoride which is a good thing (just ask your dentist!)
If you want to buy this water filter, I highly recommend you buy them through Amazon here. You won’t find them cheaper anywhere else.
While it is highly recommended to change your water filter every six months, there is the possibility that it could still be beneficial after that time period, mostly dependant upon how often you use the filter. One of the many people who gave reviews of their PUR filter for their side-by-side refrigerator decided to do a little math for the rest of us. Over the course of one year that person was spending $1.41 per day on bottled water versus the very small amount of just .20 cents per day with the Whirlpool 4396710 PUR side-by-side refrigerator filters. This may be something you might want to look into further and perhaps own.
Let me show you what current owners have to say about it.
Nathan A. Price,
Works great, incredible value overall,
I have a Kenmore refrigerator form Sears that I bought about a year and a half ago. Kenmore is actually made by Whirlpool and although the filter this replaced was labeled Kenmore, this is the exact same filter but labeled Whirlpool instead. I looked it up on the Sears site and they wanted $50 for the same filter. The price is a steal and even though it says 6 months I used it for over a year since I have soft water in my house and only one person. My fridge has a 6 month built in timer that goes from green to orange to red when the 6 months is up.
